Great post! I really like Read It Later, which saves links to peruse at a later date. It saves in a special bookmark folder. You can generate an RSS feed, or integrate it with Google Reader.

Hi,

Recently I was searching for a free tool that would let me manage my ebook library and would synchronize it with an online service. At first it seemed like an impossible... until I came across Mendeley http://www.mendeley.com/

Totally impressed. It consists of both a Desktop app and a companion Web app and community.

The desktop app (Mendeley Desktop) its a powerful library manager: full text search across your entire library (!), categorization and tagging (with automated document meta information extraction), PDF annotation and commenting, PDF viewer, tabbed interface... Even it generates Bibliographies in Word and OpenOffice. It is feature complete yet not bloated software (Check out a more detailed list of features here http://www.mendeley.com/how-it-works/).

The companion online service (Mendely Online) will let you store and access your library everywhere (currently up to 500MB). Share and publish documents, collaborate in research groups, etc.

Last but not least, I have no connection with Mendeley. I'm just excited of having discovered it and wanted to share it. I use other research tools on a daily basis (Diigo, Google Notebook, Evernote, Personal Wiki...) and think that this tool could be of intereset to you and for the community of readers. I Hope it really helps!

Saludos,
Jano.

Hi Miles,
I tried a load of bibliography management tools and settled on Aigaion (http://www.aigaion.nl/). It's a php/mysql-based tool which sits on your web server. Which means that I'm not tied to any particular computer to access my records.

Cheers,

Mark
